Wardrobe Prepared For Me
This final piece of the collection summarizes and holds the themes from the previous pieces in a referential but elevated new visual. It acts as the lingering invitation for the viewer as they leave the exhibition.
After months of sketches and compositing new ideas nothing landed or felt right. That was until a month before the show when this image popped into my head of clothing hanging in a closet. After shooting the reference photo, and making some adjustments, I knew I had the final image. I actually teared up when I saw it for the first time.
This painting carries a lot of symbolism and life for me. Some of these symbols I may guard for the sacred face to face interactions where that explanation feels the most appropriate. With that said, the major themes are as follows below.
The clothing in the piece echoes the wear and tear of years of struggling to transform myself into the what I desire to be. Here in this painting they are placed onto a clothing rack ready to be worn, and placed in front of me. Now they are reinvigorated with a light that is not my own and take on a quality that I could not be crafted by human hands but break and suspend disbelief towards an eternal reality.
The sunset painted mountains tower behind this subject as a closing chapter and a welcome to the wondrous adventure into the unknown.
The clothing rack is suspended in mid air as if a supernatural glory encourages me to be clothed in light; allowing resolve to fill the soul and renewed grace is given to move forward with assurance and hope.
