Evan J Zuercher is a Conceptual Fine Artist exploring the intersection between divinity and a grounded existence. Though a multimedia artist, Evan works primarily in paintings and photography while enhancing conceptual ideas through temporary installations pieces, and wearable sculptures. His contemporary work leans into the dramatization of ordinary subjects brought into focus through a restrained minimalist composition. He forms visual stories through the creation of hidden meanings and motifs.
Evan’s upbringing in a faith based community and internal struggle with personal identity is the most prominent theme throughout his work. He is dedicated to discovering where faith meets physical experience; emphasizing the growing and easing of tension this creates. His work is deeply personal yet universal in a way that silences the noise around the viewer and offers alternative perspective to what is before them.

Photo Negatives
The most noticeable characteristic of Evan’s work is his use of photo negatives. Whether used for photography or as a reference photo for any given work, utilizes photo negatives to twist the light and shadows of recognizable subject matter into surreal encounters with a change in perspective.
Photo negatives allow Evan to twist deep shadows into brilliant light and create surreal imagery of any given subject matter. This technique has been honed over time and is now a primary jumping- off point for his artwork at large.
SELF PORTRAITuRe
Self-portraiture is a prominent motif in all of Evan’s work. He uses this expression as a medium in and of itself. As he interjects his likeness into a piece, he steps into the themes as if to place a character on the stage. Here, allegories and themes become a stage where they may be observed and experienced by the viewer.
Likewise, the tool of self-portraiture is skillfully removed from his work, beckoning the viewer into the subject matter in an experiential way. This is primarily and most actually expressed through his installation work.
